Son of David Wade Wakefield and Susanna Jane Wilson.

Obituary:
David S. Wakefield, a prominent resident of East Wheatfield township, died Saturday, aged 75 years. Death was due to general debility, he having been seriously ill for a week. With the exception of two years spent in the South with Company D, Fourth Pennsylvania calvary, he resided in East Wheatfield his entire life. Mr. Wakefield was twice married. His first wife was Miss Tabitha Van Horn, and his second wife was Miss Eliza Robinson, who died about nine years ago. The surviving children are: Mrs. Joseph Lavis of Pittsburg; Mrs. Emanuel Funk, Mrs. Jerome McNeilly, Mrs. William McGinley, George B. and William Wakefield and Mrs. William Wakefield and Mrs. William Rodgers, all of whom reside in the neigborhood of Seward, and Mrs. J.D. Tomb of East Wheatfield township. He was a brother of A.E. Wakefield of Johnstown, and of Mrs. Mary Taylor, of Seward. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon from the Rodgers home. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mr. Noble, pastor of the New Florence M.E. church, and interment will take place at the Wakefield burying ground.

Civil War: Co. D, 4th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry, 64th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, from Feb. 24, 1864 to July 1, 1865.
